Public Education

As a parent of a traditional learner, an advanced learner, and a special education learner, public education is very important to me. Wisconsinites value education, yet our public schools have been repeatedly starved of much needed revenue and support.

This is true in the 17th Senate District, which leads the state in school referendums. Under-funding our public schools risks the success of our children. Under-funding our public schools puts classes like trade and tech ed at risk. The 2019 bipartisan Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding made several recommendations. Those recommendations have been rejected in the three budget cycles since. We must provide teachers and staff with the resources they need. We must provide children with the public education they deserve. And, we must provide Wisconsinites property tax relief. In the Senate, I will work with parents, teachers, advocates, and my colleagues, to prioritize public school funding. The legislature must do its part to fund our public schools.
